Script

The script I have based my animation on is Marie Antoinette last letter to her sister law, Madame Elisabeth before she was sentenced to death for treason. The original letter is a long heart felt script evoking her troubling emotions towards her children and what was happening.

I had utilised this letter to create my own fabricated script for the animation. Instead of talking about the children, I get Marie Antoinette to discuss her scandals and how they did her wrong. However, I portray Marie Antoinette to be this snobbish ignorant woman who believes she has done nothing wrong to France but in reality her actions say otherwise. These actions are represented to symbolism and metaphors of the props.

Here are the variations of the script I have written, the last paragraph is the actual script I had used for the animation. I had to shorten it to fit within a 1 minute duration

October 16, 1793

Madame Elisabeth,

It is to you, my sister, that I write for the last time. You who out of love have sacrificed everything to be with us, in what a position do I leave you! It remains to confide you my last thoughts. The trial was devastating to hear as it was deemed necessary to make charges on rumours spread since my arrival to France. What have I done so to be trailed and condemned a death not forgivable by France. The accusations, the scandals, the lies fabricated by my enemies is my undoing, and only you my dear sister know the truth. When the people of France were starving from the dearth of bread, “Let them Eat Cake!”. It was then they uttered about a thoughtless Queen but never have I spoken those words! The judgement became stronger, especially with the diamond necklace affair. Madame Deficit! Madame Deficit! My heart was truly in turmoil. Alas! there are sins I do wish to repent and hope my children, you and France one day forgive me. With loving another man other than my own husband, prolonging the birth of the heir of France and bring ignorant to Frances’ financial issues. I sincerely implore pardon of God for all the faults which I may have committed during my life. I beg pardon of all whom I know for all the vexations, without intending it, I have caused. I pardon all my enemies the evils they have done to me. I had friends. The idea of being forever separated from them and from all their troubles is one of the greatest sorrows that I suffer in dying. I bid farewell to my aunts and to all my brothers and sisters. Farewell, my good and tender sister. May this letter reach you. Think always of me; I embrace you with all my heart, as I do my poor dear children. My God, how heart-rending it is to leave them forever! Farewell! Farewell!

Madame Elisabeth,

I deeply regret that this is the last letter I’ll ever write and it remains to confide you my last thoughts. What have I done so to be trailed and condemned a death not forgivable by France. I had strived to live a plain and simple life just like my people and do not understand where I had went wrong. I felt like a mother to my people and when France was starving, I too felt their hunger and pain! When France was turning into a poor country, I too saved my wealth and preserved a diamond necklace that would save my people. Yet, they still call me Madame Deficit! Alas, there are sins I wish to repent and hope yo.u, my own children and France one day forgive me. With loving another man other than my own husband and to prolonging the heir of France. I sincerely implore pardon of God for all the faults which I may have committed during my life. Farewell, my good and tender sister. May this letter reach you. Farewell! Farewell!

Madame Elisabeth,

Pourtant, ils m'appellent encore Madame Déficit ! Hélas, il y a des péchés dont je souhaite me repentir et j'espère que la France pourra un jour me pardonner. Avec amour et devoir, j'implore sincèrement pardon à Dieu pour toutes les fautes que je peux avoir commises. Vous allez tant me manquer. Je vous embrasse de tout mon cœur . Adieu, ma bonne et tendre sœur. Adieu! Adieu
