Here is my blog full of posts regarding my practice of art including, animation, digital art, university projects and personal projects. My posts would show a lot of work in progress, comments on failures, achievements and experiments.

I hope you enjoy my blog and if you have any questions regarding my practice, please email me! :)

Model: Chair

Here is the model of my chair, It obviously doesn't show the smaller detail but it has the overall shape. I was thinking of doing the smaller detail in Mudbox and sculpt on it and put as displacement mapping on the model

Floor Plan

Okay, so I first started my work by doing the floor plan. I made approximate measurements by looking at my reference images.

Character Design: Marie Antoinette

As you can see there are different variations of Marie Antoinette, I'm still not entirely sure which design to go for or even what kind of look I'm trying to achieve. For the setting to be realistic as possible, most people would think to create a realistic character. However, creating a realistic character may lean towards the notion of the uncanny valley. So a stylised character would be more efficient and achievable at most.

Interior Design

Here are my initial interior designs, following my research on Le Cabinet Dore I had created the same objects and shown the placement of where I would want the objects to be

PITCH: A 3D highly rendered character interacting within a static rendered environment. Focusing on lighting, shading and modelling, these two aspects of character and environment will be based on the lifestyle of Marie Antoinette within the palace of versailles. MARIE ANTOINETTE: Born November 2, Vienna, Austria Helped provoke the popular unrest that led to the French revolution and to the overthrow of the monarchy Became a symbol of the excesses of the monarchy Lived relatively carefree childhood. Tutor found Marie “more intelligent than has been generally supposed” but added that since “she is rather lazy and extremely frivolous, she is hard to teach” Married to Louis-Auguste at 15 and be

Honour Project

Here is the start of posting for my honours project. I had no clue what to do for this year project, to create a animated short, still or work within a collaborative group. When I really thought about it, I knew I wanted to create something by myself this year, so I decided to create rendered still images. I was already working on my still life project at the time with Andrew, so this project that I was thinking of producing seemed achievable. I then had to think about what are these rendered images going to be about. I had following examples, Jessica Sommerville's 'Mr Teakin's confectionary shop' and Jay Shadlow's Lord of the rings work to look onto for inspirations. I then thought of creat

Digital Art: Colour Vamp

Following Marian Wodzisz's photography, this digital art turned out exactly how I wanted it to be. I had a lot of fun following the colour scheme of the character.

Digital Art: Meow

Here is the progression for 'Meow', this digital design didn't have that much trouble and it was fun to create

Digital Art: Window Shopping

The main problem that I had with this drawing was that I couldn't get her body proportions right at the beginning but later on I had fixed it. The thing I was most happiest with was the lighting of the character

Digital Art: Elf Progression

Here is the only progression photo i have with 'Elf', This is the first time I tried to digital paint something realistic. In terms of the medium digital, I always drew cartoon looking characters, because with my previous attempts I didn't know how to blend the colours in photoshop. (Hint: Opacity!) I was really happy with how it turned out in the end and that I could finally get the hang of painting digitally. PS: Finally im up to date with my posts!!!!!! Finally within this year's work

Texturing: Problems

Here I was having problems with the alpha channels, for some reason when texturing on mudbox, the colours don't match with the rendering in maya ...

Texturing: Head

Here is the texture on the head, I tried doing the skin in mudbox with projection mapping

Rigging: Skirt

Here rigging the skirt, I wanted to create a swish motion when she moves, but my tutor said it was going to be hard to create

Here are the official blenshapes of my character, my tutor at the time released a tutorial on how to wrap the model of the head (blendshape) onto the original body

Texturing: Hair

So i first started texturing the hair, i had followed a tutorial online. I remember it was a video on texturing the character of lightning hair. I then followed a tutorial to texture an eye but in mudbox. At that time i didn't know how to transfer the textures onto the model in maya, so I had to do it all over again :(

Here are some of the UV's for my character, I remember I had to do the upper body a couple of times because the unfold didn't want to work for me.

Blendshape: Trial

Here was the start of my blendshapes, I remember i had a lot of trouble placing them on the original model because there was too much geometry memory and the scene was therefore lagged. It also didn't worked when I actually did place the blendshapes on top
